Materials and Construction

The house sits on a 400 mm thick insulated concrete slab. Walls are constructed with two cavities separated by 12mm plywood and skinned in corrugated colour bond steel.
All doors and windows are constructed of select grade Tasmanian oak and West Australian Karri for their natural beauty and long service life.

The roof frame has been hand pitched and constructed using laminated hard wood. Roof and ceiling battens are all solid radiator pine.

Roof is skinned in galvanized corrugated iron. Gutters are large half round profile for their beauty and easy cleaning.

Decking area is constructed on an F17 hard wood substructure, and durable Tallowwood hardwood deck and finished in natural oil.


Insulation

External walls are filled with R 2.5 acoustic Earthwool batts and two layers of sisilation in the outer cavity.

All internal walls are insulated with 2.5 acoustic Earthwool batts for reduced acoustic and thermal transfer between rooms.

Roof space R 5.0 Earthwool batts and R 1.5 Aircell sarking.


Flooring

Main living area and hall is dark corloured hand trowled concrete. Livos natural oil finish.
