Berlang Gorge is an incredible lifestyle property offering 1227 acres of vast bushland and kilometres of tracks, with direct access to thousands more acres of National Park and fire trails.
It is named for the massive 200 metre-deep gorge that cuts through the property. Berlang Gorge features many other natural geographic formations, including creeks and waterfalls, and spectacular lookouts. Everytime we go exploring we find something new!
You'll find Berlang Gorge a half an hour from the township of Braidwood, 1.5 hours from Canberra, and 3.5 hours from Sydney. Best of all it is less than 10km to the Majors Creek Hotel, a small family friendly pub offering accomodation and meals on the weekends.
The property features the amazing Berlang Hut, a crude log cabin weekender used for day visits and camping, reportedly once used as a Hare Krishna retreat, that never fails to blow the mind of first-time visitors. The hut is furnished with sofa beds and bunk bed frames (ideal for rolling out swags), has a combustion heater, a 240V solar system providing enough power to run lights and a stereo system, run the motor on the spit, and charge phones. There is excellent mobile phone service from the hut, but it's patchy elsewhere on the property. There is also a dam.
Access is via a right of carriageway, and is rough going in some places. There is potential to make visits more comfortable with the addition of toilet facilities and water storage, and plugging the significant (and drafty!) gaps in the log walls of the hut.
Currently used for bushwalking, exploring, motorbikes, horse riding, off-road carts, 4wd'ing, skeet shooting, teenager parties, and entertaining like-minded friends, Berlang Gorge has been incredible fun for our family. Whether you have an appreciation for native flora and fauna, and the peace and serenity that pristine bushland has to offer, or you're after somewhere to host bush parties of epic proportions, miles from any complaining neighbours, Berlang Gorge is an ideal paradise.
Zoned RU1 (rural), you can even build your dream home, STCA. Under this zoning, it is our understanding you can build a shed up to 200m2 to Australian Standards, and have a shipping container, without Council Approval.
Please allow a half day for an inspection. And please be sure you are serious before arranging inspection.
